Allopathic medicine is a system in which medical doctors and healthcare professionals treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation or surgery. It doesn’t take individuals into consideration, instead it puts us into categories and treats people in these categories in the same manner. In allopathic medicine, there is little to no emphasis on the lifestyle that got an individual into a category in the first place.
As mentioned previously, allopathic medicine can be absolutely miraculous when it comes to trauma and a few other modalities, but when it comes to the highly prevalent diseases and disorders that plague Americans, its performance is absolutely abysmal.
Here in the US, we spend enormous amounts of money on healthcare, yet are collectively one of the sickest nations in the world. Too many people use allopathic medicine as a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. And for good reason, the what and how of a healthy lifestyle is hard information to come by.
The focus of allopathic medicine is on treating the symptoms of disease. The root cause of the disease and the symptoms presented are seemingly ignored. So while the symptoms can be masked with pharmaceuticals and surgeries, the root cause or the environment that caused those symptoms are never addressed – or even really considered. Yes, cancer can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and now immunotherapy drugs, but if the conditions that caused the cancer to form in the first place are never addressed, the likelihood of cancer returning in the same or another form is pretty good.
Here’s another example, a few years ago, my face became covered with red bumps, my skin stung badly if I didn’t slather 3 different types of oil on it. My cheeks would also get a red flare rash every time my body temperature increased – when I drank alcohol, hot coffee, hot tea, got out of the bath or came inside from the cold.
I was encouraged by my allopathic medicine loving mother to consult with a doctor, but I refused because I knew they would send me home with a steroidal cream, pharmaceuticals or both. So I was alone in my quest to figure out what the heck was going on.
A few people suggested it looked like rosacea and when I researched the symptoms, it seemed to fit. I had the classic red flare of the cheeks and what appeared to be rosacea acne…and a whole lot of it!
I looked through some of my textbooks and found that rosacea used to be mostly prevalent in alcoholics. My alcohol consumption had increased prior to the breakout and not only that, I had been drinking cocktails, which also come with a big dose of sugar. I knew my liver was struggling from both, so I got to work to heal it back into health. My liver had gotten to the point where simply ceasing to drink alcohol wasn’t enough. I nourished it with particular foods and herbs, I fasted to give it a break from digestion and most recently I started a series of flushes that remove gallstones from the liver and gallbladder.
Guess what?
It worked!! It took a lot of research, a lot of trial and error, and a lot of mental work to release the binds of alcohol from my sub-conscious. But I did it. And I have committed to a lifestyle that supports liver health so that I won’t experience rosacea or rosacea acne again.
I know there’s lots of people out there like me. Who have tried allopathic medicine and it didn’t work. While symptoms were masked, the real problem never went away. So symptoms continued to flare or presented in other ways. They know there’s a better way but lack the information and guidance to change their lifestyle and heal their bodies.
That is why I created The Foundations of Optimal Health. To empower people with the knowledge of what a healthy lifestyle looks like, what a body truly needs in order to maintain a disease and illness free life and how to tailor one’s lifestyle to achieve lasting health, vitality and happiness.
